Audience remarks from Vice President Dick Cheney's speech at the Republican National Convention, September 1, 2004:
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!
Booo!
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!
Booo!
Booo!
Booo!
USA! USA! USA!
USA! USA! USA!
Booo! Flip-flop! Flip-flop! Flip-flop!
Booo!
Booo!
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!
Flip-flop! Flip-flop! Flip-flop!
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!
Audience remarks from Senator John Edwards' speech at the Democratic National Convention, July 28, 2004:
Yes.
Yes.
No.
No.
Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere, everywhere.
Edwards. Edwards. Edwards.
Discussion. Cheney-heads are all gnashing incisors and pumping fists, while Edwards' fans might as well be demurely sipping liqueur at the coffeehouse. I say, Edwards everywhere indeed. Let's see some life out there people!
However, this could be a transcription issue. JohnKerry.com barely records audience response in transcription (which is why I linked to the Washington Post version above), whereas WhiteHouse.gov gleefully notes the crowd's every fart 'n' holler, with exclamation points. For example, searching the Bush-Cheney records reveals 123 occurrences of the word "Booo!", while John Kerry's archive only has one.
Sadly, there will be no audience input into tonight's debate, with both Cheney and Edwards seated at a desk like the hopeful job applicants they are. Edwards might be able to freak Cheney out with a subtle game of footsie, but then we, as the TV audience, wouldn't get to see it. Booo!
